Why add a watermark to a PDF?
A watermark tells the reader something before they read a word. DRAFT says the content may still change. CONFIDENTIAL says do not forward it. SAMPLE or PREVIEW says this copy is not the paid version. A company logo says who made it.
The tool prints the message across the page itself. So it survives email and printing. It also survives copies and screenshots. A note in the email body would vanish.
Watermarks also discourage sharing. A contract marked with the reader's name is less likely to travel. So is a report stamped Internal use only. Anyone who passes it on hands over a clearly marked file.

English text goes into the PDF as real text in Helvetica Bold. Every reader already has that font. So the file stays small.
The standard PDF fonts cannot write Bangla or Hindi. They cannot write Arabic or Chinese either. So the tool draws that text as a clear image and embeds it. It looks the same and prints the same. You just cannot select it as text.
For a logo, use a PNG with a clear background. A white box around your logo will show on every page otherwise.
Settings that work to add watermark to PDF files
- Classic diagonal stamp: center at 45 degrees. Use 60 percent width and 25 to 35 percent opacity.
- Quiet branding: a logo in the bottom right at 15 to 20 percent width and 60 percent opacity.
- Maximum protection: tiled at 30 degrees with about 30 percent width and low opacity.
Keep the opacity low enough to read the text below. A watermark that hides the content makes the file useless to the people who need it.
Add watermark to PDF pages you choose

The tool ignores pages that do not exist. So 1-999 simply means all pages. Need different marks on different sections? Run the file twice with different ranges. Or split it first with split PDF and join it again with merge PDF.
Is a PDF watermark permanent?
The tool draws the mark onto the page content. It shows in every viewer and on every printout. It is not locked though. Someone with a full PDF editor could find and delete it.
Need more safety? Add the watermark and then lock the file with Protect PDF. Or flatten the pages with PDF to JPG and rebuild with JPG to PDF. The mark then becomes part of the picture itself.

Lower the opacity to about 25 percent. Or make the mark smaller and move it to a corner.
My logo shows a white box
The logo file has a solid background. Export it as a PNG with a clear background and load it again.
The mark looks off center on some pages
Those pages have a different size or a crop box. The tool places marks on the visible area of each page. Check the preview to confirm.
