Why merge PDF files?

Get the order right

The arrows move a document up or down one spot. The cross removes it. Need only some pages from a document? Pull them out first with the PDF page extractor. Then merge the result. That is cleaner than merging everything and deleting pages later.
Can you merge PDF files with different page sizes?
Yes. A PDF stores the size of every page on its own. So a merged file can hold A4 pages, Letter pages and a wide spreadsheet. The tool scales and crops nothing. Each page keeps its exact size.

Bookmarks and attachments belong to the whole document and not to its pages. So they do not carry over. Form fields lose their function because two merged files could hold fields with the same names.
Password protected files
The tool cannot merge a locked PDF directly. Open it first with the PDF unlock tool if you know the password. The merge tool tells you clearly when a file has a password.
